Science
has finally caught up with the fact that how we think affects how we feel. Dr.
Milton Trager taught that we all have the innate ability to heal ourselves and
that enjoyment plays a major part in that. By questioning, “What could be freer,
easier, lighter?” we tap into the cellular memory of what lightness and freedom
feel like. When that feeling has been experienced consciously, it is easy to recall.

Trager sessions include movement awareness, deeply relaxing rocking on
a massage table and simple exercises that help release tension in an instant.
Clients are loosely clothed and comfortable. Trager is a two-way
conversation. Attitudes lie hidden in the tissue. When a Trager practitioner feels
some restriction, (s)he offers an invitation to release with a touch that communicates
even more gentleness. Trager is a skill to be learned but it
can be learned easily because relaxation is our true nature. Trager
has helped thousands of people with back problems, stress-related complaints,
and neuromuscular conditions as well as athletes and singers looking to improve
their performance. Sheila Burr has been a Trager practitioner
since 1999. She taught school in Toronto and rural Ontario before discovering
the Trager approach to relaxation. She continues to study Trager
and has seen significant improvement in clients. Sheila lives in Kincardine on
the shores of Lake Huron. Contact Sheila at 519-396-1357 or tragerwithsheila@yahoo.ca
